Samkhya

Samkhya is a Sanskrit word denoting both “number” or “empirical attribute”. It is used to describe one of the classic schools of Indian philosophy. This is a dualistic doctrine which perceives the world made up of two elements: matter and consciousness, i.e., eternal spirit or purusha. It means that when a person’s body perishes, his/her consciousness can move into another body with reincarnation.
